A new week begins...

Time has been past so fast..Only one glimpse, I have been here for two months. What have i done? I will say: basically nothing...Go to school every weekday, then do the endless assignments...I am doing these like a online homework robot. I am not complaining about the circumstances I am going through. I just want to remind myself: what is your goal and what you should persist. That's all. Pass the exam, crack the wpe, get high grades, advance to the candidancy, finish the project/thesis, and finally get my degree. It seems only several steps but really cost tremendous efforts to reach the point. I promise that I will never let you down.

P.S: Looking forward to the three weeks after Oct.15th!^^

Settle in Long Beach

I have not used this site for a long long time. However, 'cus MSN space become really lousy, so i just decide to use this BLOG again. SO, GRAND OPEN TODAY and celebrate the internet connection in my apartment eventually works.

After 1 year preparing, finally i got here in Long Beach, California. It is not that easy comparing to the last time i went to Dresden, Germany 'cus I probably know everything I needed last time and now, all start from ZERO. I have to figure all stuff out by my own. Adding courses/Dropping before deadline, making schedules to make sure what you choose is not in the conflict, and meet Prof.s to seek suggestions and solutions to the problems that I am facing with. The time-line is much more tight than I imagined before. Extra readings are so required for me to pass the WPE test as well. All in all, it will be absolutely busy for me in the first semester.

So that's what i encount here in the first month and more info continues....(including sightseeing, aquarium, campus pix..etc...)

Movie, just as television, has already become one of the indispensable elements in our life. Star War, Harry Potter, Load of Ring, Mission Impossible, such kinds of films are known in every corner of the world. There are more than two types of movies, but if I have to make a decision from the serious movie or the amusing one, I will no doubt pick the latter one.

There are prodigious numbers of reasons that advocate my preference. First, the comedy is much easier to be understood. Not like the serious one, which needs certain background information to understand the director’s intension, we almost do not have to know any prerequisite knowledge about the comedies. What we have to is just sit there and enjoy it.

In addition to easy-understanding, these movies can far more get us relaxed and relieve the tensions that we have gotten. As the breakneck pace of technology innovation occurring in our society, people are suffering much more burdens and pressures than anyone ever before. Under such circumstances, a comedy would surely release the too extended nerves, make your tensed face a heartily smile, so as to replete your exhausted body and mind.

Finally, not only the comedy can please us, but also, through it, we can expand our knowledge, broaden our vision and enrich our experience.

Although there are some advantages of serious movies, such as improving our skills of appreciation and learning a lot of things unknown to us, comparing to the great aspects of films for amusement, which is the better one is far more obvious. What we really need is to hold a happy life for everyone.

As all we know that television is the most common household in every family. When the widespread technology emerged, it became so popular that no one could resist the temptation to own one. While, accompanying with the appearance of television, there comes numerous of problems as well. Some people has argued that it has bad effects on children. As it to me, I can not help agreeing with this kind of view.

First of all, it is such a time-consuming thing that will interfere with children’s study. There are only twenty four hours seven days a week. While a survey carried out by National Education Committee showed that over 78% of children, under the age of sixteen, spent more than two and a half hour per day in watching TV programs. It means they would consume almost more than twelve hours sitting in front of the television. Compared to the time they used in study, at most six hours per day, forty-two hours a week, twelve hours are really something. “People are preferred to be entertained rather than educated. “ not to mention our children, who have less self-control awareness than the adults.

Secondly, the programs displayed are usually uncomfortable for children. it is obvious that what we are mostly watching are those movies always containing violence, dirt talks, sex and other bad images that would largely influence our children. Having realized these facts, many parents today have already circumscribed the time of watching programs for them, in order to minimize the bad effects.

The last but not the least, it can cause health problems. Long time watching would probably keep your eyes muscles always extended. And the continuous shining screen would make eyes itch. Consequently, the result is become shortsighted. In addition to short sight, fatness is also the major problem that nowadays many children have to deal with, which can be caused by sitting still, eating popcorn and other high energy contained foods.

After we understand all the facts above, although watching apropos television can expand children’s knowledge, broaden their horizon and enrich their experience, the disadvantages are far more obvious. People should pay more attention to our children, making a better environment for them to grow healthily.

Few things are more pleasant than having an adorable puppy playing with you and growing up throughout your life. As the best friend of human beings, also know as the most faithful one in the animal’s world, dogs could be seen almost everywhere. However, someone pointed out that a zoo is useless, having no value at all. To such kind of argument, I would for sure deny it.

there are numerous reasons that support my position. First of all, it can expand our knowledge, broaden our horizon and enrich our experience. There are millions of thousands of different kinds of living things habited in the world. I guess no one can say that he/she has already seen all the species on the Earth. so the very significance of the zoo is to provide such opportunities to let us see more and know better of all other animals.

In addition, what we facing today are the worse and worse situations of the extinction matters. Some scientists have estimated that from the beginning of life on the Earth, there are 99% of species has already or become extinct. That means the living ones are only count the very little 1% and are still getting in danger. Hence, it is very urgent to do something to protect our ecosystem and living world. And the zoo plays a important role in it. People are learned to care for animals, to appreciate their beauties and eventually to have the idea to save them as our own treasure.

Although there are some disadvantages about the zoo, such as noise making, uncomfortable odor evaporating, the value of it can never be omitted, especially in nowadays the rapid changing societies. Within the steel and girder cities, a zoo could be a wonderful place to get yourselves relaxed.

there is no doubt that founding a new university in our community would be really exciting. While, before an extensive consideration of all the facts, it is too soon to reach the conclusion.

The advantages of establishing the new university are apparent. The raise in estate value, the attraction for potential investment, the large consumption of supplies, the more opportunities of job offering, all these can be cited as the bright sides to our community. If the university were built, there must be thousands of students moving into the campus, living in or off. It could surely increase the income of landowners by renting. Furthermore, those people need to consume, buying necessities for living, decorating, health-caring, etc. thus the business around the university would be enhanced without any efforts. Meanwhile, the more thrive the business, the more employees are required. And within a few years’ development, our community would be better educated and become a ideal living district.

However, in contradict to all the merit, many dark sides are often neglected. The environmental issues are the foremost. With the large quantities of crowds arrival, series of matters such as garbage dispose, noise, traffic, air pollution are coming along. In addition, pets, neighborhood affairs, and other negative effects would intensify the situations to be out of control.

Nevertheless, after comparing all the advantages and disadvantages brought by the university, we could not reject the great chance to build it as the benefit are far more than the difficulties we have to deal with. With the rapid development of computer technology and telecommunication techniques, it is not amazed that some people hold the position that governments should do all the efforts to improve and catch up with the pace of the technologcal innovation. While, when they have seen the picture that an African child is dying of starving and in the very danger of being the prey of condors, what will they say then?! To my personal preference, I would agree with the others that suggest sending the money on more basic needs.

There are myriads of varieties of facts that advocate my point. Foremost, people are far cry from getting enough subsistence. even in the developed countries nowadays, there are certain kinds of people who do not get sufficient supplies to sustain his/her living, not to mention the poor ones in the numerous developing countries, especially in Africa. They cannot find a job, cannot make any money, cannot fulfill their children and have not been paid any attentions to. When the society keeps eyes on the highlighted success of civilizations, little cares are made to these poor guys.

Another reason why I insist the way to use the money is that it is the government’s obligation to meet the fundamental needs of all the people in any nations. We are all equal to live in the country, and what is really urgent is that not only the people who live in major cities should be taken good care of, the others who live in extreme conditions should be kept an better eye on. They are in short of sufficient food, medical care; lacking the opportunities to attend school, not to refer finding a job. There are numbers of people in the west part of China today live the way as hundreds of years ago. How could we just pursuit the development of technology while omit them as nothing happened?!

Finally, all the evolutions would never achieve without the richness of necessities. Only when the desires of basic needs are reached can the human beings to search for methods to improve the society in which they live. Through the retrospection in the human history, we can easily find prodigious numbers of facts that support the idea, such as the first city appearance, the first industrial revolution (labor richness), the first metropolis emergence, etc.

In a word, the recent world wide situation, the government’s obligation and the further preparation are all cited as the reasons why I choose spending the money for basic usage. We should try all our best to fulfill the tough task.

it is not surprising that people always complain that our government did not do a good job dealing with the environment whereas made the climate nothing changed but worse. Now there is a opportunity that a company want to donate some money to support either the arts or to protect our world. it is without saying that I would strongly recommend them to pick the latter one.


There are too more obvious varieties of facts that support my suggestion. Originally, the environment problem has become one of the most pivotal crises around the world. the day after day warmed-up climate, the disappearance of large blocks of glaciers in the both poles’ areas, the continuous raising of sea level which cause the exceptional Venice in a great danger, the scarcity of ozone in the atmosphere which would result in terrible skin problem and further more the survival of human beings, nothing can be more crucial to protect our living world with all our efforts.

Another reason that advocate my point of view is that we has only one world to live in. a survey conducted by the National Environmental Committee showed that 78% citizens living in the cities did not satisfy the air condition and the circumstances around them. it is often easier said than done. People intend to have great environment without paying any money. With the limited budgets, even it is the government’s will to improve the situation we meet today, they do not have the capability to fulfill it. now we have the chance to fill the space, why we do not just get it?!

The last but not the least, the company would make a lot profit from the donation for the environment. It just like making a piece of advertisement for the company itself. They tell the people they care the surroundings we live with, they pay attentions to our public conditions and these, in the same way, reflect their care for the customers’ needs. Isn’t it the best idea for raising their popularities among the business competition?!

Now, after seeing all the reasons mentioned above, I would be glad to say that to protect the environment is a more sensible and profitable choice. “There is one and only one earth that we can live in.” is what make us to do all our efforts to complete the task.

While there is a voice sounds like all we should and always read are the real ones. According to my personal experiences and fondness, I could not agree with this point of view at all.

First of all, the statement uses the word “only” that shows the fault of itself. As we know that every single coin has two sides: the bright and the shadow, the black and the white, the smooth and the rough. Whichever the side is, we cannot just consider only one part of the whole thing, which is against the fundamental principle of the philosophy.

In addition to the common sense, the very supportive fact is that there are numerous varieties of fictions, fairytales, future-imagine books on almost every bookstores around the world. we get many pleasing reflections of ourselves from them. They, in fact, serve as a match to light the dormant powder within us. How can we obtain more pleasure without them?!

Finally, non-reality books are no less important than the real ones. we could never get sparked to invent the submarine, which nowadays plays a significant role both in military and scientific field, from the fiction about traveling 20 thousand miles beneath the ocean. it is not surprising that some people hold the idea to spend the money as soon as they get it, while, in contrast, the others are more willingly to save what they have earned for the future. To me, frankly, the latter one sounds more preferable.

There are prodigious numbers of reasons that support my point of view. first of all, savings is so significant to our pursuits. We all have future visions of our life since we were child: hoping to the Disneyland, attending to Harvard, Yale or MIT, finding a decent job in Microsoft, IBM, or GE, having a wonderful family, owing a fancy car, or touring all around the world. all of these would probably cost a fortune if we want to accomplish them. Supposing that we used up the money which we could get as soon as possible, how can we deal with our future dreams?

In additions to the future plans, it is the savings that can really do you good when you are in any emergencies. Imagine you just lost your wallet, your job or, even worse, unfortunately caught a bad disease, how can you get through these without a saving?! There is one thing I believe that “you want people to help you, first help yourself”. That means you should first think to solve the problem you encountered rather than calling for help. So do the savings.

The last but not the least, we can make more profits from savings. it seems obvious that everyone in the human world has a bank account. As what I have said, we can not live without our friends. So with our friends, we have no need to worry about anything.

Anther reason why I choose to hang out with my friends is that we can learn a lot from each other. As we all know that “there will always be a teacher among three of us”. It means we can definitely absorb useful knowledge from our friends. Talking about the recent news that we have seen in the newspaper; discussing the latest technology that has been developed; or reviewing the former experiences that we have been before. The last but not the least, friends are our life-long treasures. In nowadays unprecedented rapid working pace, people are willing to find the best method to relax themselves. Some read; some just sleep. To my personal preference, the better way to escape the stress is to exercise.

Firstly, it is very simple to get exercised. We even do not need any appliance: jogging, fast walking, punching, gyrating, jumping and other kinds of activities. Not only can it be done in our casual time, but also we can do some in a short time break at work. A five minutes exercise would help a lot when you feel drowsy at your office.

Secondly, it absolutely evaluates our physical condition and release the too tensed nerve system. As we know, long time working, especially facing in front of the computers, would cause our brains constantly operating myriads of information. In that case, our brains need more oxygen than usually. but if we do not take any breaks to have some fresh air and move around, our brains would not get enough oxygen to function so that the un-efficiency would be the result definitely.

Finally, exercise could provide more pleasure with other people in order to alleviate the stress effectively. We can play football, basketball, volleyball, or go skiing, swimming, diving with any of our families, friends, neighbors, classmates and colleagues. “People are gregarious animals.” So under such congenial circumstances, stress would soon be released without notice.
